Lair of the Lich Presents: Castles & Crusades House Rules

I am, in all honesty, a stickler for the rules. I try to play any game I run, as RAW as humanly possible. This does not mean that I run the game perfectly. I forget rules, interpret them incorrectly; it happens. However if I make a mistake one session, I correct it by the next and inform my group. I also do not like adding too many house rules. The reason is simple, if the game works as intended, I do not need to amend it. If I have a multipage document of house rules, for a single game, I might as well play something else, because I’m clearly not enjoying the rules as written.

That being said, the occasional house is fine, especially if its within the context and engine of the TTRPG being used. Perhaps the house rules is to adjust the game to a particular setting or feel. Or simply, after playing with a certain rule repeatedly, you notice that the rule itself is poor or downright not fun to play. For this blogpost, ill be sharing my house rules for Castles & Crusades. Simple, short, and does not changes the game is such a way that it should feel different from the core rules.

The following document has six house rules. Most, are inspired by AD&D, which can be integrated easily to Castles & Crusades. I am not really interested in playing AD&D currently, favoring C&C right now but these rules just fit perfectly for the kind of games I enjoy. I might add more house rules to this file in the future, however the idea is to not create a multipage document.

Update: Noticed that the constitution rule is already in C&C as seen in the Raise Dead and Resurrection spell. Hurrah C&C!!
